Philine Wedell is Managing Director of IKEM and an expert in renewable energy, with a particular focus on photovoltaics and wind power, as well as on cross-cutting energy policy and regulatory issues. She has extensive leadership experience in public administration, policy advice and project management at both state and federal levels.
The substantive focus of her work is on shaping the energy transition in the electricity sector. In this context, she concentrates in particular on the integration of renewable energy into the energy market, the further development of regulatory frameworks, the close coordination between science, public administration and policymaking.
Philine Wedell studied Industrial Engineering, specialising in Energy and Resource Management, at Technische Universität Berlin. Her professional career has included positions at the German Wind Energy Association (Bundesverband WindEnergie) and IKEM (2018). From 2018 to 2022, she was employed by the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises in the field of renewable energy, most recently as Head of the Unit.
She subsequently joined the German Energy Agency (dena), initially as Head of the Renewable Energy Team and, from late 2024 until her return to IKEM, as Head of the Team for Electricity Generation. In this role, she was responsible for projects commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, with a focus on the expansion of renewable energy and the further development of electricity market design at both national and international level.
