Thomas Paintner joined IKEM as a Research Associate in January 2021. His main field of activity is energy law with a focus on alternative fuels. In the Campfire project, he is researching the legal framework for the establishment and operation of service stations to supply ships with fuel based on green ammonia.
He studied law at the University of Regensburg and the University of Aberdeen with a focus on European and international law. After his first law degree, he completed a Master of Laws (LL.M.) at the Universiteit van Amsterdam in the field of international and European law. Subsequently, he completed his legal clerkship at the Higher Regional Court of Nuremberg with placements in the energy law team of the law firm Rödl & Partner as well as in the energy law team of IKEM.
