Project

Germany wants to achieve climate neutrality by 2045. This goal requires far-reaching structural changes in all areas – companies in Saxony are also facing the challenge of reducing emissions and maintaining their competitiveness.

Against this backdrop, the project is developing concrete decarbonization strategies for the Saxon economy. To this end, the project team identifies relevant technologies and assesses their applicability in various sectors. Detailed technology profiles and overarching scenarios show possible development paths towards a climate-neutral economic structure. The results support companies, grid operators and energy suppliers in planning and implementing their transformation processes.

The IKEM analyses the legal framework for the implementation of decarbonization measures. In particular, the focus is on the requirements for the upstream energy and grid infrastructure, the regulatory design of which largely determines the scope for technological innovations.
