Gender equality is a key prerequisite for high-quality research and innovation, yet women remain underrepresented in leadership positions, earn lower average salaries and are less visible in academic and research-related public forums. These structural inequalities continue to limit the performance and innovation potential of research organisations.

The WOW project strengthens the innovation capacity and organisational culture of Ukrainian institutions in the climate and energy sectors and supports their integration into the European research and innovation landscape. It provides targeted training on gender equality and supports the development of Horizon Europe-compatible Gender Equality Plans (GEPs). Through EQT workshops, follow-up coaching and tailored support, the project enables universities, research institutes and NGOs to identify gender bias, promote diversity and meet EU research programme requirements, thereby contributing to more inclusive research environments and stronger innovation outcomes.
