Legal Framework for the Operation of Biomethane Cogeneration Plants

Abstract

The BioM0876 research project aims to identify the fundamentals for the economically viable operation of biomethane CHP plants under the subsidy conditions of the EEG 2023 and to support the further development of the biomethane market. The study analyzes the complex legal framework governing the operation of biomethane CHP plants. The report examines the framework conditions and funding opportunities under the EEG 2023 (Chapter 2) and the KWKG 2025 (Chapter 3). In addition, it examines current legal developments, particularly regarding grid connection and grid access for biomethane plants (Chapter 4).
