The slim 28-page magazine offers a compact overview of IKEM’s activities over the past year. In addition to information on research projects, events and financials, the report includes an interesting interview with managing directors Simon Schäfer-Stradowsky and Susan Wilms and provides insight into the work of IKEM’s five interdisciplinary teams.
In the past year, the Institute’s 56 researchers examined various aspects of the energy transition as participants in more than 70 projects. The topics of these projects were diverse, ranging from structural change in former coal regions to automated driving, electromobility concepts, climate finance and the transformation of the heating sector.
Most of the funding for IKEM’s research came from project funds, national and European funding programmes (61.4%), and public (8.6%) and private contracts (22.9%). Annual turnover rose to around €3 million in 2020.
