Climate action just got a fabulous makeover. At this year’s Berliner Energietage—Germany’s premier energy transition conference—IKEM, WWF, and Ellery Studio teamed up to present an electrifying new science communication format blending facts, flair, and fierce climate commentary.
A dazzling new format lit up the Berliner Energietage 2025: The Climate Cabaret! This 90-minute celebration of climate action was hosted by none other than Germany’s energy transition drag queen, Viagra Falls. With sharp wit and sequins to match, she guided the audience through a joyful and fierce exploration of how creativity and diversity can supercharge the energy transition.
Opening with “Wilkommen, bienvenue, welcome!”, Viagra set the tone for an evening of climate quizzes, spirited debate, and big ideas. The panel didn’t hold back: Cordula Weimann (Omas for Future) championed intergenerational alliances; Ulrike Hinz (WWF) showed how to make tech like Power-to-X engaging; Bernd Riedel (Ellery Studio) argued that emotion and storytelling are essential; and Anika Nicolaas Ponder (IKEM) called for inclusive innovation led by those most affected by the crisis.
Their message was clear: To truly transform our energy system, we must tap into our collective creativity — across generations, cultures, and identities.
The evening closed with live numbers by Viagra Falls and a festive networking aperitif, proving once and for all: climate action can be fierce, fun, and fabulous.
