This study shows the extent to which sustainability aspects in the building sector are anchored in European and national legislation.
How buildings are constructed, used and supplied has a major impact on people and the environment. Sustainability criteria can ensure that emissions and waste are reduced. Furthermore, these criteria protect the health of the residents. However, the issue of sustainability in the construction of buildings is often not yet taken into account over the entire life cycle.
In a study, the IKEM investigates how building can be made more sustainable in the future. To this end, the researchers will analyse the European and national legal frameworks and compile an overview of the relevant guidelines and sustainability strategies.
