Johann Helmann joined the IKEM Mobility Team as a Research Associate in October 2023. His work focuses on planning solutions to promote sustainable mobility in urban areas.

He completed his bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning at the HafenCity University in Hamburg. Furthermore, he obtained a Master of Science in Urban and Regional Planning at the Technical University of Berlin and a Magister in Urban Planning and Mobility at the University of Buenos Aires as part of a Dual Degree Programme. In his master’s thesis, he dealt with traffic experiments in existing neighborhoods as an instrument for establishing sustainable mobility.

In the past years, he worked for the development organization of Hamburg’s new district HafenCity as well as for the traffic planning office ARGUS. In the context of these positions, he especially worked on planning guidelines, mobility concepts and in the strategic transport development planning.
