UPTAKE

IKEM supports the global joint project UPTAKE with studies on the legal framework for negative emission technologies.

Projekt

In addition to the direct reduction of emissions, the targeted removal of greenhouse gases from the atmosphere (CDR) can help limiting global warming in the long term. In order to develop viable strategies for the use of this instrument, the UPTAKE project is evaluating relevant technologies and is compiling a database with information on their costs and effectiveness, possible risks and technical development prospects.

For the project, IKEM is investigating the current framework conditions for negative emissions and CDR technologies at various regulatory levels and will identify possible paths for the future development of the corresponding legislation.
